Fiorella and Yurelia are conjoined twins from Costa Rica who were brought to California by Mending Kids for separation surgery. 

The girls joined at the chest have recently undergone the surgery and are now in recovery at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, California.  Both the family and Mending Kids are grateful for the excellent medical care given the girls.

Family Information

The twins live in San Jose, Costa Rica with their parents and six of their siblings.  Their
father is a security officer.  Their mother works occasionally as a cook.  Maria and Jose are raising some very special children.  Their two teenagers are committed to school and are diligent in their quest for a professional life in the future.  Of course, financial resources are always a big problem.  Both of the teenagers provide care for the twins and their others siblings so mom can either work or have a break.  The additional four younger children are in school.  The family also has another sister who suffers from severe cerebral palsy.  Maria provided all of her care until the twins arrived and she has since moved to a group home for children with such conditions.  This has been very hard on the family as there are so close knit.  One of the last things Maria did before coming to the United States is spend time with this special daughter.  Mending Kids is willing to accept funds on their behalf, with all donations going directly to the family.  Mending Kids will only provide monitoring the funds so the family can report that it was used correctly.
