They traveled thousands of miles for surgery

​Four children from Somaliland recently traveled all the way to India for something that should never depend on where a child is born: access to the surgery they need.
 
For these children and their families, getting to surgery meant crossing borders and traveling thousands of miles. But they made it. All four children received their surgeries, and now they are beginning the journey home with something they did not have when they left: a healthier future ahead of them.
 
This is why we Hike2Mend.
 
On October 3, our Mending Kids community will come together to walk in honor of the extraordinary journeys children and families around the world make to reach surgical care.
 
Some travel six hours by bus. Some cross countries. Some cross continents.
 
We walk because they do.
