Why Does Mending Kids Host an Annual Wings Gala?

"Imagine" Wings Gala is Mending Kids biggest fundraiser of the year. Gala helps fundraise to support all of Mending Kids programs; Medical Missions, Individual Surgical Care Programs and our U.S Hometown Missions. 

What is a Medical Mission? Mending Kids gathers a team of surgeons, medical personnel and volunteers with big hearts and a purpose. The team then travels to countries to provide surgeries to children who would not otherwise have access to these. During these missions, medical staff mentor and partner with local surgeons, enabling them to sustain care after our departure and empower them to mend on their own. 

What is Mending Kids Individual Surgical Care Program? Through partnerships with renowned hospitals, we bring children with complex surgical needs to the U.S. and match them with a loving host family that watches over them while they're here. If surgery is not possible for them in the U.S. or via a surgical mission, Mending Kids arranges surgery with overseas partner-hospitals in the same or nearby country.

What is HomeTown Mission? For the last 6 years, Mending Kids has provided surgical care to local Los Angeles children whose surgeries are deemed elective and/or cosmetic. Mending Kids Hometown Mission is committed to providing a better quality of life to these children who might experience bullying due to their physical appearance. Considered cosmetic by most insurance carriers, these life-changing surgeries are critical to the patients and their families and are at no cost to them. It is a partnership between Mending Kids, Specialty Surgical Center in Beverly Hills and local surgeons and medical professionals who donate their time and skills in orthopedics, reconstructive surgery, and anesthesiology. Mending Kids is looking to expand its' Hometown Missions in other U.S. cities.
